pI finally contacted a person in the lifestyle section of our local paper! I informed her how PA and food allergies are so important to us. I used and quoted some facts I had on peanut allergies. I told her she could possibly SAVE A CHILD'S LIFE by doing a story. /p
p Guess I really got to her she is interested in doing the story and wanting to interview our family!!.. If you have any suggestions for me I'm open to them. /p
p She usually puts photo's in paper about the family she interviews. What do you think about putting photo with story? I am still really sitting on this one.!/p

Congratulations and thank you! Anytime this allergy gets attention, the better it makes it for all of us. I was interviewed by our local news a few months ago. I would focus on a few important points that you want to stress and keep bringing them up.
My interview lasted 1.5 hours but the news story was only about 1 minute. As you can imagine, a lot was cut out. I would choose what you most want people to know and make that the focus. You may also want to email Chris here at the site and ask his input. Good luck and I hope you will post the article when it runs.

Either this sunday or next an article will be coming out in our local paper. I allowed them to include photographs. I believe it humanizes the story. I look at it this way. If the paper did a story on say your child's reading abilities or sports accomplishments- would you allow them to include a photograph? If you are comfortable with that then go ahead and include the photo with the PA article. I do not think it harms the kids in any way. I also would ask your child (not sure of the age) how they feel about it and go from there.

My son is two years old. Sorry, forgot to mention that. This newspaper is dispensed to all small towns in the county. This includes our small town. I will also be contacting our town newspaper in couple of weeks. This has just jumpstarted some ideas in my mind and got me going.

Our story was in a local paper Sunday. This paper is distributed all over the county. The editor did misunderstand one thing but not that big. My son has outgrown milk allergy. Overall, the editor did good job.

Good for you, Julie! I'm sure a lot of awareness was raised with that article. Somehow reading it even made me depressed, and I'm dealing with the same thing. Maybe that's why it made me depressed!
Take care, Miriam

Great article Julie! It wasn't on the first page anymore so I did a search for food allergy and it came up as the first listing.
