I just received an email that many people living with Food Allergies are going to email Oprah and see if she might do a show about the topic (especially parents of children with food allergies).
I understand that the Bunning Food Allergy Project/Video was sent to her attention. For anyone who doesn't know...the Bunning family are from a Chicago suburb and have done a lot to raise awareness as well as try to get federal funding for research and a cure. If you google Bunning family and Food Allergy you can read about what they have done.
I hope it would help if Oprah would educate people about the severity and reality of food allergies. If she gets a lot of requests maybe she will do a show! Here is the link to send your request and family story:

I intend to write in the next few days, but am prefering to focus more toward the removal of food from the classroom (parties, manipulatives, craft & other projects, and rewards) as it relates to the health of ALL children, not just the food allergy community. Obesity and malnutrition are epidemic in many areas of this country. Her homestate of Mississippi tops the nation's obesity list.
JMO, but I would think that after her whole BEEF debacle (trial & all, eventhough she won), she might be a bit gun-shy of pushing anything which could possibly be construed as singling out one particular food (i.e. peanut).
But then again, she might find herself in trouble with the CORN industry as it relates to obesity . . . considering the massive amount of corn syrup ingested by our citizens.
Just my .02, FWIW.

But if she addressed food allergies, not just peanut allergies, she wouldn't be singling out a food. I know she would have to mention what the top allergens are to do it right, but if the emphasis were on the severity, not the individual food, the message would still get across.
I know, the issue isn't how I would do the show, but how Oprah would, if she would. Just saying.
