Late introduction

I guess I should introduce myself. I have been posting since Sept. 2005. I have a 5 1/2 year old son who is peanut and tree nut allergic (pistachios, cashews, hazelnuts). He has not necessarily had all tree nuts so he may be allergic to other ones as well. Anyway, we avoid all nuts. He is in the High range. We found out when he was almost 3. He has never gone into full anaphylaxis (I never have had to use the Epi- thank goodness) but has had a reaction from the first bite. And each one thereafter. We just did not realize what it was. After we found out, we still did not know enough about the seriousness and traces issue and he has had a reaction two times to eating things with traces. He has started Kindergarten now and there is much more to worry about.

We also have a 16-month-old boy whom we are being careful with since he is considered high-risk for developing food allergies. Anyway, I love this board. It has raised a lot of questions for me and brought my attention to many things I never realized or would have thought of before. It has given me a lot a lot a lot of more to research and a lot more worry and stress but for a good reason. It is nice to have the support too. Glad I finally came on board.

Just wanted to say welcome. It is nice to have support from others that can understand your situation. I don't know what I would do without this site.
