Kings Hawaiian bread

I called the manufacturer of this bread, and the representative told me that none of their products contain any nut ingredients! I was really excited to learn this as my daughter likes their rolls for snack. Their savory butter rolls aren't bad for dinner sometimes, too. Of course, I'm still going to check the label every time ...

We've used these for a long time now after learning the same information. You can find small packages of 4 rolls sold around the deli in our stores - I often keep those on hand for when we are eating out and I know the bread will not be safe for my son with PN and TN allergies.

King's Hawaiian is the BEST tasting bread and I've been so happy that they continue to maintain no nuts in their processing.

I just bought some of these today. But when I Googled, I found this: and I see "Almond Pinwheels" and "Walnut rolls."

Both are out of CA, so I e-mailed to see if they are separate facilities. I'm pretty sure they are, but I just wanted to be sure. If anyone has any updated info please pass it along.

I just got off the phone with someone from Kings Hawaiian Bakery. They said yes they own both places I was talking about, and that they do make products containing nuts in both facilities, but that some of their products do not contain nuts. So there is a risk of cross contamination.

Guess that rules them out for me. Glad I called before I tried them. Anyone else hear anything different?

Thanks for the updated information. Did they state whether their nut products are made on shared equipment, or just in the same facility?

I'll have to call tomorrow and talk to them again. If it's shared lines, then we can't have it either, but I'm okay if it's just the same building ... My daughter practically lives on these things, so I'll be really disappointed if I have to stop buying them!

I'll post the info I get from them as well.

To be perfectly honest, I don't remember. I called at 12PM, just on the off chance that they would be open (forgot they were in CA) and they were. From the way I understood it, they were made on the same equipment. I COULD be wrong, though.

Sorry everyone, for coming along and possibly snatching away something your kids love...just want everyone to be safe.

I called them this morning. She stated that most of the pastries that contain nuts are made in their restaurant, and that anything containing nut in their main facility is separated in another room. She said there is no risk of cross-contamination, and they have never had a report of a problem.

I feel comfortable letting my daughter eat their rolls, but obviously understandable if outside someone else's comfort zone. Manufacturing changes so often that it is a good reminder for me to check back periodically with these companies.

cmvervais- you are absolutely right. I must have misunderstood what the girl on the phone told me. I apologize to everyone.

"Mahalo (Thank You) for contacting King's Hawaiian Bakery.

We appreciate your interest in our products.

Our King's Hawaiian sweet rolls and breads are nut-free as well as our production lines. There is no way for cross contamination. However, we do make a couple of our pastry items in a completely separate room. The nuts are locked up and we have never had any issues as many of our consumers are highly allergic to nuts as well. Please feel free to contact us should you have any further questions or concerns."

Glad to see we got the same information! And I don't think you need to apologize. I'd rather read the potential problems with a product and do research than have people keep that information to themselves. :)

I love the Kings Hawaiian rolls! They are completely safe and I've never had any peanut-related problems with their products.
