pHi,br /
I am Enrico and I am 9 1/2 years old. I am pa, have asthma, and other food allergies. I wear epipen on belt while at school. I've had food allergies all my life and it is hard when other kids eat candy that I'm not allowed to eat. I also have very dry skin which I put lotion on every day but it is still itchy. I'm in the 3rd grade./p

pMy name is Katlyn. I am 9 1/2 years old. I think I have had about 3 reactions in my whole life. I'm allergic to peanuts, nuts, cats and dogs, a little bit to soy and pollen. 2 out of 3 of my reactions happend at school.(weird, huh?)The first one happend in Kindergarten. the seccond one happend in first. the third one happend in second grade. Oh, you asked about school. My favorite lunch food is the pizza ( Yum!) The thing I hate the most is the BBQ ( it's really bitter!). I actully eat everything(even the pizza!) at a table called the "Allergy table". It's where my friend ( he's allergic to nuts too) can pick 1 friend each and ( of course, with safe lunches) can eat at the table. my question,"What are your fav.( of course, safe) foods and the worst!/p

pHi, /p
p I've always had to eat different foods ever since I can remember because I tested allergic too many things even when I was little. So things have gotten better for me as I can eat wheat, milk, chicken, oranges, stuff that has soy protein and french fries (as long as they don't use peanut oil to fry it in.) I was 6 years without eating white potato. There are still foods that are not safe for me to eat, so I don't eat them. /p
p My Mom makes safe ice cream for me, bread, and eggless, nutless, carrot cake which are good. she tries other stuff like cookies I eat one and don't want anymore- I think she got upset with me when I didn't eat safe cookies she sent in to share with class I am just used to not eating that stuff at school. I am glad the others kids liked the cookies- one time no one liked my birthday cupcakes- (milkless, eggless, etc)./p
pMy mom makes me wait to see whether I can eat some of the candies- I wish food companies answered phones on the weekends. I got mad when some of the companies didn't call back and candy got eaten much later but not by me. Some companies respond by e-mail when that's all my mom has to findout the info./p
pIt can be a pain at resturants- at the beach Mom skips the line of people waiting to get in and checks with someone about whether there is anything safe for me to eat- one time we went to several places until we decided on 30min drive to a pizza place we knew was OK. She also packs snacks so we have something. We usually stay someplace where we can cook in. I bring McDonald super fries with me to the local chinese food place as there is no safe food there for me to eat. I am allergic to peanut, tree nuts, sesame seeds and shellfish. I am also allergic to strawberries and peaches so some candy I can't have because it says natural fruit flavor. Mom and Dad don't order food with that stuff in it and sometimes requests that no chopped nuts be put on the food even if it's not talked about on the menu. I didn't like it the one time Mom's dinner came with nuts on it.br /
There is still lots of good stuff to eat and my Grandmom let me have lots of her homemade rolls and gave my Mom instructions on how to make it.br /
Bye,br /

pHi Enrico,br /
Thanks for responding.br /
It sounds like you have a great Mom who cares alot about you, too bad your class mates didn't like the cup cakes, did you?br /
I send things to my daughter's daycare for special days, I think she likes them the container comes home empty./p
pYou didn't say anything about your friends, are they supportive of your allergies?/p
pI don't want to badger you with tons of questions, I'm just trying to get an idea of what Emilie might to be going through.I know it's not easy to be a kid, but is it alot harder when you have allergies?br /
Thanks againbr /

pHi,br /
Most of my friends care about my allergies. But today I went to tell my friend a joke and she went to talk to me and her peanut butter sandwich stuffwas right in front of me! I just stepped back and told my other friend the joke. I was scared because I could smell it! have you ever smelled peanut butter? It smells really weird! /p
pWhen I can't eat stuff at places, my mom made a thing called Treats For Trades. It is were if I can't eat stuff while my sister can, my mom buys me food. for ex. if my sister eats a bowl of ice cream I can't have, my mom says "Remember, Treats For Trades!" And she buys me ice cream!br /
talk to you soon!/p

pHi Katlynbr /
"Treats for trade" sounds like a great idea, I think that might be something my daughter would like to try.br /
Before I had my daughter and up untill I found out about her PA, I ate PB(alot)! Now that I don't eat it any more I can tell right away when someone else is eating it. Now that you mention it, it does smell "really weird"./p
pI'm happy to hear "most" of your friends care about your allergy, I have been finding that my daughters close friends are very protective of her allergy(most of them are only 3-4 yrs. old)br /
One day Emilie had to have a different lunch than her friends, she was very upset about this and started to cry. Her friend Mackenzie told "Em" that she didn't want her to get sick so she changed her meal also./p
pYou mentioned you had 3 reactions, do you remember much about them?/p
pAs I mentioned to Enrico, I really don't want to badger you with tons of questions.br /
If you are comfortable answering my questions thats great, but if you are not I understand.br /
Either way thank you for letting me ask./p
