Spoke to the company yesterday since I almost had a heart attack when i went on the site and they announced their new "PEANUT PRODUCT"!!!!!!! YIKES. The good news is it is made in a different plant in a different state and the peanut candy never comes anywhere near the company that produces all the other JUST BORN candy.

Good to know. I just bought some Peeps and Mike and Ikes for DS to take a b-day party tomorrow in case there is a pinata filled with questionable candy.

Just Born is safe -- I read that they just acquired the company that makes peanut chews. I'm going to see if I can get more info.

I just want to post that I am a little nervous about Just Born at this moment in time. They used to have info on their site about being peanut-free. That is no longer there -- in fact under the link for 'ingredients' is a toll-free number to call, no ingredients are list for any products. I have contacted them & will post again when I find out. Until then, I personally will not give my daughter any Just Born products (I still have Peeps left over from Easter. My DD got several since I told everyone they were safe)

Thanks. I hope they keep them separate as well. They are planning to begin distributing peanut chews nationally (right now they are only available on the East Coast) so I worry they may need more facilities to produce them. I hope not! I will post when I get my response in case things have changed since last month!

I spoke with a really nice rep last month and she told me that they were very aware of peanut allergies and for me not to freak out if I see that they have a peanut product...that it is in a separate facility just because they are so aware of the peanut allergy. I asked her to pass along a big "thank you" to the upper brass for being so allergy aware. Given how this rep was talking, I have a feeling they will keep any other peanut products at a separate facility. How nice and refreshing to get an understanding manufacturer who also trains their customer service reps. about allergies. Julie B.
