Yes, this is true. I live in Boston where one of the research centers is and evertime I see an allergist from Children's Hospital I ask about the clinical trials. Recruitment for the trials is slow but they are making progress. The pharmaceutical company that is developing this it called Tanox out of Houston, Texas. This will not be a cure but will be a treatment - it is supposed to take the "life threatening" out of the anaphylaxis. Yes, everyone cross their fingers that we have this treatment some day soon.
There is another company called Dynavax that is working on an actual cure. They are much further away, though as they are only in pre clinical trials but it's a company to keep an eye on. Both good news for us.

OOOOHHHHH.... I don't want to get my hopes up!!! But this sounds soooooo good. My insides are all fluttery. Deep breath...
I knew this stuff was in the works, but didn't really read anything about it or look into in any way. Maybe I should've just skipped this one, too!
When this was mentioned before, someone also quoted a price - I think it was hundreds of dollars per month for the injections. I'd definitely have to go back to work!! But definitely WORTH IT!! Think the insurance companies would cover it?!?!?
Okay, I'm calming down... feet back on the ground.
Thanks for sharing this. I printed it to show my hubby.
Take care,
Tammy

Heather 2,
I am looking for a new allergist to do food challenges with. Someone from Children's was recommended but I lost the name. Do you have any information on a good Allergist at Children's? Or does anyone for that matter? Sorry to stick this in here. I am not a child and the tests would be for me.
Thanks-
Christine
