Hi, I'm Dawn, mom to 15 month-old, peanut allergic Joshua. We found out when he ate a peanut butter cookie. He got hives and his eye swelled up (it was gross!) His pediatrician poo-pooed it, saying to just make sure he doesn't eat peanut butter again . We switched dr's., got a referral to an allergist and learned he's also allergic to eggs, soybean, dust and wool. I'm terrified of another exposure! Our other kids (4.5 yrs & 2.5 yrs) are great about protecting Josh, always asking if something has peanuts in it.
I'm so glad to have found this board, but I have to admit that sometimes y'all scare me!! This allergy sure is a challenge!

HI DAWN,
I ALSO HAVE A SON WITH A PEANUT ALLERGY. CORY IS NOW 5 AND IT IS GETTING EASIER FOR ME TO DEAL WITH. I KNOW HOW SCARY THIS IS AT FIRST, BUT IT DOES BECOME A WAY OF LIFE.
AT THIS POINT THE HARDEST PART WAS OUR DECISION TO HOME SCHOOL.AT LEAST FOR A FEW YEARS.
THE BEST PART IS I HAVE A SON WHO LISTENS WELL AND IS VERY COSIOUS ABOUT WHAT HE EATS.
I ONLY FOUND THIS WEB SIGHT ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO AND I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THE INSIGHT OF OTHERS THAT HAVE GONE THROUGH IT BEFORE. PRAISE GOD FOR A PLACE TO LEARN THE BASICS.
GOD BLESS
LORI

Hi Dawn,
After dealing with this allergy for four years now, I too feel scared sometimes. You are among friends here and this is where I find my sanity. Sometimes we agree on things, sometimes we don't. Some people feel strongly in one regard, and someone else has a different view of doing things, and it's okay; we are all here for the same reasons...to stay safe and educate ourselves...and share our experiences. I still get scared some days, then I get mad, then I get sad and cry, then I get scared again. It keeps us on our toes!
Good luck to you and Joshua...you are among friends!

Thank you all for your welcomes! I don't know how I would survive without the support and information you all provide. Looking forward to getting to know you all and staying safe together!
