Indian food?

I've read that we should routinely avoid Chinese, Japanese, Thai and African restaurants because they commonly use peanuts. How about Indian restaurants? I was just looking through one of my cookbooks and I noticed two Indian-style varieties of recipes that called for peanuts. I don't know if that's authentic or not.
