pThis is my off-the-wall question for the week!/p
pAnyone have a suggestion for a good brand of "powered" cooler (the kind you can plug-in in your car) to keep foods for PA child while traveling or on long, hot days away from home? A traditional cooler w/ice blocks just isn't working for us anymore. /p
pI remember seeing one once in a catalog, but haven't seen any recently. (Don't seem to have any in stores here as we live in small community.) /p
pThanks in advance for any ideas!br /

We have a Coleman power cooler we use on long trips, and we've been very happy with it. I wouldn't suggest it for daily use, though (even though it comes with a regular A/C adaptor so that you can plug it in inside to a regular outlet, it's kinda big to lug in and out of the car). I dunno if there are different models, but here's a look at the one we have:

I've seen Target advertise an auto-adaptor cooler in their flyers that holds either a 6- or 12-pack of soda, can't remember. Either way, smaller than the one I have, and cheaper, of course, and probably more practical for day-to-day use. Check out the auto accessory section at Target and you might find it. (Although I will warn you that twice when I saw it in a flyer and went to my local store, they were sold out, LOL!)

There is one listed in the Subaru Car Accessory catalog that can keep foods warm or cool. I haven't tried it, but have been considering it.

We have the Subaru plug-in cooler/warmer which I think may just be an Igloo or Coleman (not sure which) with the Subaru brand slapped on it. It works very well - we drove 14 hours to Florida last summer (and back) and it kept everything at the perfect temperature.

Ours is Koolatron (http://www.koolatron.com), we bought it at Canadian Tire and we've used it on one trip so far. Very pleased with it. We used it indoors one night and noticed the fan makes a slight hum which DH found irritating; it didn't bother me.
Unexpected bonus: it's a neutral colour so we didn't feel conspicuous carting it through hotel lobbies *g* not like our big red camping cooler!
