Ice Cream recipe

Help!! I just bought a Krups ice cream maker and the recipe calls for 1 egg for vanilla or chocolate ice cream.I am not comfortable making this form egg allergic son. I am thinking of using one of the choices of an egg substitute, but my husband is giving me a hard time saying the ice cream won't come out right. He wants me to return the whole machine. I really want to get this right for my son.

Hi, I have a cusinart ice cream maker. Have been making vanilla, chocolate, banana, strawberry, and cinnamon ice cream regularly for the past 2 years. I NEVER use egg in my recipe. I use the same basic recipe for all flavors. 2 cups heavy cream, 1 cup whole milk, 1 tsp vanilla extract, 3/4 sugar, then add however much I want of the above fruits or cinnamon. For chocolate, I melt some chocolate in about a 1 cup of the milk (haven't measured it, just dump about 1/2 package of Vermont chocolate chips into pot) and then mix it in with rest of milk and cream mixture so it cools faster. Once it is cool I put it in the frozen bowl and turn on machine. I also have made a vanilla with chocolate flakes mixed in. I use the standard vanilla recipe and when the ice cream is done, add a bunch of chocolate chips that were ground up in a mini-cusinart chopper. This is my favorite ice cream so far. But they have all turned out absolutely delicious. I wish I had a bigger ice cream maker because between the 4 of us - the ice cream rarely lasts 2 days!
