chasie, you will get a better answer to your question than mine. First of all, don't worry about sounding crazy. Last year at this time I had to ask what FAAN was on the board and people were very kind in their response.
Dr. Hugh Sampson is associated with FAAN and I believe he is considered "the" allergist when it comes to food allergies. I am not even clear if he is the person doing the research on the monthly vaccine.
As I said, I am sure that there are people posting that will be able to answer this clearly for you. But never feel you have a crazy question. It's all just about learning.
