I wanted to try to have hummus at our house when we entertain, but I am not exactly sure what tahini is made out of besides sesame seeds? Does anyone know, or know of a safe hummas on the market that I could serve around my PA son?

My PA son loves hummus on pita. I've never made tahini, but you can buy it at healthfood stores.
Prep Time: approx. 10 Minutes. Makes 2 cups (16 servings).
2 cups canned garbanzo beans, drained
1/3 cup tahini
1/4 cup lemon juice
1 teaspoon salt
2 cloves garlic, halved
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pinch paprika
1 teaspoon minced fresh parsley
1) Place the garbanzo beans, tahini, lemon juice, salt and garlic in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. Transfer mixture to a serving bowl.
2) Drizzle olive oil over the garbanzo bean mixture. Sprinkle with paprika and parsley.

You can make the spread without the tahini, adding some extra oil to make up the texture. becca

In addition to Becca's suggestion, you can use Northern Beans in lieu of the garbanzo beans!
