How scary is this??

So, I'm pretty new to PA, and new to this website, so maybe I'm crazy but... I bake and decorate cakes as a part time business. I am in the process of building a website, and have been browsing other cake sites for ideas. Well, I came upon one that said they specialize in vegan and allergen free cakes. I thought that was great, as my kitchen is now completely nut free. (and it rarely sees an egg either LOL!) Then I noticed a list of her specialty flavours, and they were all chalk full of peanuts, nuts and chocolate. Call me crazy, but if I were going to order a cake for my PA son, I'd want to know that it came from a peanut/nut free kitchen! What do you all think??? Jane

I agree. I do remember someone posting a site here in the past that said they were allergen free when in fact they were not even close. Also there's a bakery that Martha Stewart endorses that claims to be allergen free but then it was found that their products were possibly cross contaminated with tree nuts or something.

eta: the martha stewart one is Babycakes. After several people emailed them (possibly from this site) they changed some info on their site to reflect the fact that their cakes are not 100% tree nut free.

Which website are you refering to?

I have been searching so many that I don't know the name of it! It was definitely in the U.S. though, not that that narrows it down! If I hit on it again, I plan to contact them to ask how they control their use of "allergens".
