How many Epi-pens do you feel your family needs at one time, per PA child/person in the family?
My number is 4. One for Jesse in his Epi-belt which he wears at school and when we go outside of our home. One for the school for Jesse's emergency medical bag. One for my purse (I'm always with Jess when he goes out right now, so that's the second Epi if we're out - if he was to go out on his own, I guess I'd give him mine as a second). One for my DH.
Anyone with less? More? Any particular reasoning?
See, I just saw in posting that I could actually have two for Jesse for when he does go to say a birthday party or somewhere without me. But it doesn't happen on a regular basis yet. I guess I'll worry about it when it does.
I also know that some people have the Epi-belts that hold two Epi-pens.
Many thanks and best wishes!

Hmm. I only have one, that I carry with me all the time. Do you think I should have more?
We have 2 in the medicine bag we take everywhere, 2 in the bag they keep at school, and 1 in my purse. So at school he always has 2 with him and when with me he has 3.
After reading the malfunctioning epi thread I may feel more secure with one more at school and one more in med bag.
Karen, given your recent reactions, it cant hurt to have one more. How far are you from a hospital?
Maybe 10 minutes or so......
At work I'm about 10-15 minutes away too.
We have 4; 3 in diaper bag (one in it's own carrier for walks around the block) and the 4th in the cabinet next to the phone. I like to keep one in house in case we mess up and leave the bag in the car (too hot or cold). I'd hate to ruin them all together and not have a backup.
We used to just have 2 in the bag, but my parents are about 30 min. from the nearest hospital, so we added the third when we started visiting them- 2 to make it to the hospital and 1 extra in case of misfire.

4 - 6. We're about 45 minutes to an hour from our hospital of first preference, and about 35 - 40 minutes from our second choice. Allow 1 for every 10-15 minutes of traveling time, plus an extra two for traffic tie-ups which are typical in this area, and that seems to be about right. The school has 3, with Ryan carrying another 1 in his epibelt, so we consider the school to have 4 also. When we go out, I usually have at least two with me, and three in the summer when it's the busy tourist season with horrible traffic.
We have 1 at Syd's preschool, 2 on us when we are out with her, one at her grandparents' and 2 left at home in one spot at all times.
We have 6 - 2 at preschool, 2 in the emergency bag, and 2 in medicine cabinet. Too many?
Six:
2 supplied to the school,
1 stationed in dd's lunch box,
1 stationed in my purse,
2 stationed in our kitchen.
Should I have more? With one staying at the school all the time, we only have the one in Jesse's Epi-belt and the one in my purse, so two, for all other times.
Best wishes!

We have a ton! Let's see:
3 at school: one in the office; one in the teacher's desk; one in the emergency backpack
3 for "travel" out of the home: one in dd's backpack; one in my purse; one in dd's purse
1 at home in medicine cabinet
1 at Sunday school office
1 at her twice weekly theater class
We have been fortunate that our insurance covers the pens and hasn't balked at the number. I normally get four at a time and do refills as needed. So, I have normally had the doctor write the yearly prescription as 4 pens with 3 refills.
We could clearly make do with fewer, but the way we have it now is very convenient. If we had to pay for each pen I think I would manage to condense it down, somewhat.
