Lately my 3 year old has been asking people if they know how to read food labels to know if it's peanut safe. Ugh! Of course they say yes, but often they don't really know how to read a label. Many people think that it's fine if there's no peanut (or whatever) in the ingredients. They have no idea about looking for a "may contains" statement. Forget that they need to look all over the box and not just read the area below the ingredients. I've told ds that Mom and Dad are the only ones who can check a food label for him. I hope he now gets that you can't ask someone if they know how to read the label and then think it's OK if they say yes! He kinda misinterpreted my telling him that you need special training to read a label properly. He thinks you need to go to a special school to learn this! Whatever, as long as he won't accept food from anybody but Mom or Dad!!!
