pMy wife is constantly checking to find out when our highly PA daughter's high school home ec class is cooking with peanut products. /p
pShe get's an excused absense at home when they cook with peanut oil./p
pEven if a PA child wasn't taking the home ec class, it would be good to know because they might have classes close to the kitchen./p

Is your daughter in the Home Ec class? Can't they choose another oil or another recipe to make? It seems like quite a burden on your daughter to have to miss school on those days. It seems to me the school should take some responsibility for keeping your daughter safe besides her having to miss school. This could be covered under a 504 plan, I think, if you are in the U.S.

She was in the home ec class. We didn't want her in the classroom if any peanut oil was being used at all, so she stayed home that day. It was only for one or two days the whole year that we had that problem because we raised such a commotion about it.
Now we regularly check home ec classes close to her other classes to make sure they don't cook with peanut oil.
We are in the US, but the school didn't have anything in place so we police it outselves. The school understands very well our zero tolerance on this PA thing.
