pI called the HV Food Company today to double check their policy on allergens. I was told that some of their items may contain peanuts looped under "spices" and it would not be listed./p
pI was also told the contents of the spices was proprietary and I would have to send a letter from my doctor describing my daughter's allergy before they would give me a list of their products that contain peanut./p
pShe did say that the Original Hidden Valley Ranch in the bottle does not contain peanut and is not run on a line with a peanut product./p
pJust thought I would share this info./p

OHHHH! Thank you sooo much. We use Hidden Valley Original Ranch frequently...It is one of the few foods we have eaten w/o checking out first. Never had a problem with it, but my heart stopped when I started reading your message.
Interesting. My son's second food reaction (facial hives) was to homemade chicken nuggets (chicken dredged in milk and Progresso bread crumbs)and dipped in HV Ranch dressing from a bottle. I always have suspected the bread crumbs but now I have no idea. Needless to say, I have given him neither product. (He is only PA).

If a company makes me go through hoops like that to find out if something is safe for my child, I don't use them anymore. I've just crossed hidden valley off my OK list.

THANKS FOR THE INFO. I AM SO GRATEFUL FOR THIS WEB-SITE AND FOR ALL THE INFORMATION, REGARDING PA. I MUST BE HONEST I WOULD NOT HAVE KNOWN TO CALL THE HV COMPANY.
I JUST PRINTED OUT THE DISCUSSION TO PASS IT ON TO MY SISTERS, THEY THINK I GO OVERBOARD WITH READING LABELS. THIS DISCUSSION VALIDATES, MY EFFORTS AND I WILL BE EVEN MORE CAUTIOUS NOW.
THANKS

dmbb - Re-raising to tell you to go to the thread "Comfort zones re ingredients used in products made in peanut-free facility". I think you'll find this interesting!

Thanks Fran! The "comfort zones" thread was very interesting and very helpful.

Wanted to raise this to document my call...I spoke with HV Food Products this morning and "since the ingredients in the spices is proprietary information, we recommend anyone with food allergies avoid our products."
This is the 2nd company I've received this response from. I guess they don't see the food allergy population as being very influential or important.
Re-raising & wondering if anyone has more recent info &/or contact with Hidden Valley as to ranch dressings (bottled, not powder mix).
THANKS!!
Need a source for pre-made AKA commercial ranch dressing that is acceptable for PA/TNA.
