BrookeR,
I am sorry to hear of your sons allergy. My DD had her first reaciton right when she was turning 2 yo and my DS was diagnosed at 7 yo.
The way that we handle babysitters is that we do not allow any foods in our house that have peanuts or tree nuts in them or may contain, made in the same facility etc. into our house. We want the food that is in our house to be as safe as possible. This is great for when we do have babysitters since their is no chance they will accidently give the kids the wrong food. We also typically plan out favorite snacks and meals for the amount of time we are away, but that is just to make it easier on the babysitter so they do not have to wonder if the kids will like it or eat it etc. I do go over signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction, show them how to use the Epi Pen, and make sure they know where the phones are.

Hi Chad and WELCOME! The best place to look on this board would be the "Schools" thread as I know there is a lot of great info in there. Also you can use the Search function and type in "504" and that will also bring up a lot of great information for you. WELCOME!

Hi Chad. I'm the mother of a 9 year old son with a peanut allergy. I'm not sure if you found your answer as to the 504, if not I may be able to help. I'm a teacher in NY (not sure what state you're in), and work at my child's school. Last year we put a 504 plan in place for him. I'm also familiar with the special education/504 aspect of the schools. If you haven't found an answer already, and I can be of assistance... please let me know. Heidi

Hi Jasmine.
I'm Dan and I've had a PA since I was 20. I'm 25 now and I would love to help out in any way I can. I'm new to this site too and would like to have someone to talk to.
