Our family will be going to Hawaii in March. We are all looking forward to a wonderful vacation. I have to admit, I am starting to get a bit nervous. I am especially worried about the flight. Has anyone travelled to Hawaii with a PA and TNA child? We will be staying at a hotel so that means eating out 3 meals a day for 8 days. I would appreciate any suggestions or advice. I have always said that I don't want my child to live in a bubble but now I am wondering if we are taking too big of a risk. Thanks for reading.

I went to Hawaii two years ago, and although I did not take my pa kids, the awareness of peanuts is always in the back of my mind. Overall, I thought the food offerings were much like the rest of the U.S., and Hawaii is very beautiful and relaxed. Which island will you be visiting?

Air travel, it probably depends on the airline. I flew Delta, which had peanuts on every leg of the flight. From Maui to Oahu, I flew Hawaiian, which had no snack or beverage service, too short of a flight.

We stayed on Oahu, which has many of the same restaurant choices as the states. There are tons of seafood, sushi, and japanese type restaurants everywhere, and japanese restaurants often cook with peanut oil. And I probably would not feel comfortable letting my kids eat the luau food. Too many unfamiliar offerings. Plus, it is really pretty bad food. Poi? What is that?

Oahu and the other islands have condo hotels with full kitchens, which may be a rental option. My sister is staying in a two bedroom condo in Kauai in March that isn't too expensive.

Hope you have a great time! The getting there is the hard part. It takes forever.
