I had written up a list of things that the school must do to keep Duncan safe. Not only did they agree to each and every item (and there were quite a few!), they went above and beyond. The best idea was that in the kitchen all peanut products are going in one cupboard way up on the highest shelf, and the shelf is going to be labeled with bright red tape reminding anyone who sees it of Duncan's allergy.

I feel so good that they are so willing to help me keep Duncan safe. Even their only request of me felt good...they asked me if I would sign a liability waiver that released them from any repercussions of TREATING Duncan. I liked that. Nothing about they are not responsible if something happens if they don't treat him...just wanting to reassure the staff that if they do treat him, I won't turn around and come after them. Well, DUH! Although sadly enough some parents would.

And check this out...I'm in CA and dreading the day two years from now when my son starts public school. This article is from my home town newspaper - guess who will be moving back to OR before my son starts 1st grade!
