i called chevy's in ellisville mo (st. louis county) last week, the manager was very nice and said they bring no nuts or peanuts into their restaurant, thought their soy oil has a manufactured in warning.
We went tonight and I brought by PA/TA nut kids food, but I spoke with the manager anyway, HE SAID THEY JUST WENT 100% peanut free!!! The oil they now buy no longer is processed with peanut oil. I thanked him a million times, though I got a generic CYA response from corporate. I cannot believe how great this is!!! He said within a couple weeks he would expect all the old oil to be off all their equipment. What good news, call your chevy's, check and THANK THEM. The more people who bring attention to the problem the better! Thank you chevy's!!!!

That is great news!! I just wish the media would get involved in publicizing all nut-free restaurants.
The more media the restaurants get, the more customers they will get!

Wow nice! I've never eaten at one but I know there is a Chevy's in a nearby town.
Is the food decent?

Hmmm I wrote to Chevy's to double check, and got this email reply:
Dear Amy:
Thank you for writing with your question. Chevys products feature ingredients which may contain peanut. If your condition is life threatening then it may be in your best interest to avoid our restaurant due to the possible event that residue from contraindicated products may come in contact with those considered "safe."
Thank you again.

So are you just talking about the oil being safe? It's nice to know that a Mexican place doesn't use peanut oil. I wish the rep would have told me WHICH products contain peanut.

i got that cya response from corporate, as I stated. It actually was word for word. I really got a great response at the local level though. The manager all werevery knowledgable and both told me they bring nothing into the restaurant with tree nut or peanut and that the oil had the "may be produced on the same machinery" warning. They said this weekend they started using oil that DID NOT CONTAIN a may contain warning. I feel pretty good about it. They seem to really advocate for the PA/TA.
