I posted a couple of days ago about taking my son to the ER with a peanut allergy. The ER didn't take it very serious and just told me to give him Benadryl. well I called the ped the next day and she was a lot different! She told us exactly how serious it can be. We went in to see her today and she referred us to an allergist. We have an appointment next Friday. So my question now is can some of you give me a list of foods to stay away from and maybe a list of foods that are ok. I tried reading the labels today but I am not sure exactly what I am looking for. Can you please help???? Also, it is getting cold here. How do I make sure my epi pen stays the right temp when we are spending a lot of time outside? Thank you all!! BTW my son is 2. So far he has had hives and wheezing as his reaction. What should I expect from the first visit to the allergist? Also one more thing. How long do the hives last? His reaction was on Wednesday and he still has hives off and on.

I would call Dey Labs, maker of epi pen. Your pharmacy has the number, or you could call the Food Allergy Network.
I would not leave it in the car. You could carry it in a fanny pack, under your coat.
