Hi everyone! Does anyone else just dread holidays like Easter because you have to stress out about the candy and cookies? First my son (age 2 1/2) had his party at day care and I worried all day. Then he had his easter egg hunt at church and I had to take all of the peanut butter cups, Mr. Goodbars and Hershey bars out of them. There were all kinds of cookies there too and I let him eat those Pillsbury slice & bake sugar cookies which my mother-in-law had brought. Looking back, there was probably a chance they were cross-contaminated because Pillsbury makes pb slice and bake cookies too. Also at the church thing, they had chick-fil-a sandwiches which are cooked in peanut oil so we couldn't stay for the lunch. We went to Burger King and got a kid's meal which I think is safe. Then my mother-in-law (trying to be safe) gave him jelly beans but now I've read on this board today that Smucker's aren't safe and that's the kind she gave him. I haven't given him any yet anyway so now I won't. I'm so glad to have you guys to talk to because I think everybody else just thinks I'm crazy and paranoid about all of this. Anyway, here is my question, My son always carries his little bag with him that contains an epi-pen, jr. and a bottle of benadryl. I give him benadryl alot anyway because he coughs at night and I'm wondering if I need to get a stronger antihistamine to have on hand in case he has a reaction or will it make any difference? Also, I wanted to comment on that "No Nuts for Me" book that some of you have mentioned. I bought it and my son really loves it. I highly recommend it to any of you who haven't gotten it yet.
Take Care!
