I am writing to say that I appreciate the fact that some show (I did not watch) made a show about how severe peanut allergies are.
I was spending the day w/ my sis-in-law today and she was telling me about an ER show that she couldn't remember when it was on but was supposed to be one of the real-life ER shows that she watched.
She said that a mother brought a son in to an ER and could not tell the dr what was wrong because she was Greek and spoke little English. The father of the child shows up from the restauraunt that the family owns and translates drs stabilize the child the father goes in to visit the child then he gets worse again drs stabilize him again grandpa shows up from the restauraunt visits the child he gets worse then drs have to stabilize him again. All in all come to find out the family cooked w/ peanuts and it was on their clothes
It took my sister in law watching this show to really understand how serious this allergy is.
No matter how much we explained No matter what we said I t took this show that I never ever seen So I guess it was a good thing that that they made this show
She told me after telling me about this show that thought about my son.
I guess we never know what it takes to get through to some people but whatever it takes
Sorry if I went on too long

It's true that those who do not suffer from a food allergy or have a child with a food allergy, do not understand how serious it can be. Many times people have told my daughter to just pick off the nuts not realizing that does not make the food item any safer whatsoever.

The majority of people don't seem to grasp how extremely dangerous a peanut allergy can be. My teenage son is severely allergic. We have several school stories that are hard to fathom.
Thankfully he is receiving treatment!! Finally, treatment is offered.
It is going extremely well. This week his treatment dose is 6 peanuts/day. Tomorrow it will be increased to 8 peanuts/day. If you want to read about it I write a blog to help others in our situation Its called Just a LIttle Peanut at http://justalittlepeanut.blogspot.com/.

This reminds me of that movie Hitch with Will Smith. He has a shellfish allergy and I think that movie actually downplays how serious food allergies can be. His whole face swells up but he never goes to the hospital.
