Hello Again Everyone....

Just wanted to pass this along, not sure what I think now.

I received a call yesterday (finally after two weeks) regarding the candy. This is after the email I received that I posted previously....

The representative on the phone said the ONLY safe sweethearts are the ones in the 1oz boxes!! She kept emphasizing this. I told her about the email that I received and she said the other hearts are manufactured in various parts of the facility and are not safe. She again said the ONLY SAFE ONES ARE THE 1oz BOXES.

Then she told me that the boxes are produced on a separate floor--so I asked her separate floor or same floor separate room??? Which is it? She just said separate floor. So, which is it? I just don't like the inconsistency.....

My guy is little still--only 4yo and I'm not sure he will practice the same caution as I would. We've had some issues at school already ("but mom...I ate this before" and I say,"but Matty, we don't know where this came from, where it was packaged").....not sure again.

Just wanted to pass along the new info....

Hi mj mom,
I just got an e-mail from them. See below. I don't know if this will help you, and maybe you received the same e-mail. My level of comfort is such that the Hearts made on dedicated lines in the 1 oz boxes are okay for my PA son. They do indicate separate rooms. It just isn't Valentine's Day for us without this sweet treat! If enough of us inquire, maybe they'll make them in a dedicated building!
Have a safe and Happy Valentine's Day!
----------------------------------
Thank you so much for contacting Necco for your allergy concerns.
Conversation Hearts are all made on dedicated lines and do not contain any nuts or nut derivatives. We do however recommend that if your child has severe allergies that you do not allow him/her to have the small cellophane pouches as these are packaged in numerous areas of the facility. We take every precaution to insure that the lines are free of any allergenic materials but this particular packaging configuration is the riskiest. The best option is the 1 oz boxes that are available almost anywhere and the loosely packed candies in bags.
If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us again/
We have to inform the public we do have nuts and other Allergens in our facility but the products below are all done on dedicated lines, separate rooms.
And these do not contain any nuts, tree nuts, eggs, soy or dairy.
Necco Wafers, Conversation Hearts, Canada Mints, Candy Buttons.
Thank you again for writing.
Sincerely,
Theresa Denis
