We are considering building a web based database resource for people with food allergies and for food allergy researchers.
Think of this concept as a web based, searchable database that combines the usual benefits of searchable data (though it would consist only of self reported information) with the combined benefits that chat sites, customer review/ratings sites and mapquest/google maps sites provide.
Examples of things the food allergy database would allow users to do include: 1) Search for restaurants recommended by other families as food allergy friendly. 2) Search for e-mail addresses of food allergic people who are OK with being contacted to exchange e-mails or start support groups. 3) Display by state, city or zip the number of people reporting a specific food allergy. 4) Search for number of people reporting a parent or sibling has same food allergy.
