I saw this posted over in another forum and I took the idea and ran!!!!

I would love to use this as an oportunity to help our school learn some awarenss!!! I am going to approach the principal when we return, so I need to start brainstorming. I thought the poster contest idea would be cool, my daughter already thought of a cool idea. Give a cool prize to the winner andhang it in the lunchroom. I also thought we could have the local fire truck/ambulance come and outside(by the trucks) talk about what they do on a call, how they keep the kids safe and try to make it more neat than scary. Maybe give the kids some tips on keepig safe, keepign their friends safe etc....
I also thougth this would be an excelent time for the school to help us parents, bring in an allergist to speak and answer questions. Let us parents talk through some problems and miscommunication about this issue.

So...any other ideas??? Would a bake sale(of allergen baked goods bearing labels be a good idea)?? We could make things from my friends(also a parent at our school) allergy cookbook(Sophie-safe cooking)...I don't like bake sales, but this one could be different(I'd only let my kids buy my stuff though...LOL). I thought I'd pick your brains. I asked my kids what would be cool, they just looked at me like "what"?? They did like the ambulance/firetruck idea.

Anyone else planning anything at their school for this?? It's May 13-19th so plenty of time to get something lined up. I am also ordering some posters and stuff to hang in the lunchroom....I think this could be a good thing, I hope!!!

EDIT, sorry about all the spelling errors...also, I just emailed the local paper and told them this would be a neat topic for them to cover....get some local news coverage out of it!!!
