January 2, 2001

TO: Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network Members

FROM: The Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network and Kellogg Company

RE: Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal

Kellogg USA wishes to notify Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network members that we have initiated an allergy alert of 20 oz. Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal with a carton number of K0152E and a Better If Used Before Date of OCT 03 2001 KMA101 printed on the top of the package. This allergy alert involves no other Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal or Kellogg products.

A limited quantity of 20 oz. Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal may contain another Kellogg product that contains almonds and wheat. This product is being recalled because we realize almonds or wheat may cause a serious allergic reaction in some people.

Consumers who have a 20 oz. package of Kellogg's Frosted Flakes cereal with a carton number of K0152E and a Better If Used Before Date of OCT 03 2001 KMA101 printed on the top of the package should call Kellogg Company toll-free at 1-877-875-3182 for a replacement coupon. This mailing is being funded by Kellogg Company to be sure that you are aware of this situation.

For those of you who also receive safety alerts from "Safetyalerts.com", I have already written them and received a prompt response regarding their incorrect info. They titled their message with an "Undeclared Walnut" alert instead of "Almonds." The alert article itself though contained the correct information.

Connie, I received the alert from FAN. However, I didn't know about the safetyalert website. So thank you for the new site! Lots of recalls that I was not aware of. Tami
