Everybody needs to keep calling Hersheys b/c they have changed the formula across the board for shea oil to be included in the Kissables. She said if enough people call that hersheys takes that into consideration about changing ingredients. The number is 800-468-1714.

I just called!!! I tried...the rep I spoke to was nice and said she understood.
I said my 5 year old had really liked those before they changed the recipe...I wish they could go back to the old recipe!

Good to hear it is a hot topic! I have called and emailed, but will call a few more times under all of my aliases
I hope a lot of people call - not only because it is a nice candy that a bunch of our kids like, but because it is bringing the allergy issue to the attention of a huge manufacturer - maybe one day Hershey's will put out a nut free line like Nestle Canada. Let them know that we are a huge untapped market!

I haven't bought any of these lately. Do they now have a warning on them?

No warning - just shea oil listed in the ingredients. I think a remember reading someone spoke to Hershey's and they said that shea wasn't considered an allergen. I don't believe it is even on the list of allergenic tree nuts on the FAAN site..? There still seems to be a lot of confusion among manufacturers about it. (I did see someone post here that Dr. Wood said it was a tree nut and to avoid, so that was enough for me!)

The FDA now considers shea nut a tree nut allergen. I don't know about shea nut oil. I suppose it depends if it's refined or not.

I think I heard that the FDA also considers coconut a tree nut... so they are hardly experts. I will contact Hershey's though because I think they should keep the few choices we have acceptable for everyone, and if some are avoiding shea nut oil, Hershey's should leave it out.
