phello,br /
we got our epi-pens from our gp mainly because we are still discovering more foods that our son is allergic to. also because we felt that 8 months was a long time to wait for an appointment to see an allergistbr /
when our son had been labeled boarderlinebr /
(very unhelpful statement) of course in the uk 8 months is nothing now you may have to wait 2 years!!br /
any way , to cut a long story short we had to wait with the epi-pens for 2 weeks before a nurse could come and teach us how to use them,of course we read the instrutions but l did find it rather a worrying time. we have now brought a epi-pen trainer which is brillent for showing rellies and friends etc.br /
what has been your experiance ?br /
have you found it hard to get hold of one of these trainers? or do you just wait for an out of date epi and an orange?br /
do you think they charge to much for these trainers ? which in a way sell and advertise there product?br /
do you think that when you were givern your first epi-pen to take home you were givern all the info and were happy with it?br /
how do you approach training your relatives or dont you?br /
if you were going to teach a large audience how to use an epi-pen to folks who have had no experiance of allergy how would you approach them. ????br /
thanks williamsmummy/p

I don't know if they still are doing it, but Dey was giving epi-trainers away. The info is in another thread somewhere on the boards. The number is 1-800-869-9005. Anyway, my allergist had an epi-trainer at the office, so before we even got the prescription for the pens, the nurse showed us how to use it and had us practice with the trainer several times.
I worry about having to administer the epi. But when I dream about Patricia going into shock, I always just do it. So I am pretty confident that if it came down to giving the epi, I would just do it and not worry about it. I would be too concerned about keeping Patricia alive to worry about whether it would hurt going in.
