I was going through some of my mom's old recipes and found this one.

I've never actually made it myself, and don't recall my mom ever making it either. Also, typical of my mom's handed down recipes some information is missing. It doesn't say what temperature to cook at or how much mixed peels to use. I do know that the container of mixed peels she used for her usual fruit cake is about 200 - 225 grams, so probably it is one container.

1 cup raisins
1 cup currants
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp cloves
mixed peels
2 tsp butter
2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt

Put everything in saucepan except flour and soda. Let come to a boil. When cool, mix flour and soda. Bake two hours.
