Gosh, Americans and your love of things that come in boxes. Sorry, being an ex-pat and someone who grew up cooking from ingredients that came in boxes, I feel like I can poke a little fun.

After living in the UK for 20 years, I've learned to cook almost entirely from scratch. No prepackaged ingredients for me. I have a rack of spices and a cupboard full of different kinds of flours and ingredients.

At least this way I KNOW what goes into my food. I highly recommend it, and with so many recipes and YouTube cooking channels online, learning to cook from scratch has never been easier.

Pen I laughed out loud at your "Americans and your love of things that come in boxes" comment because it's so true :-) We love our packaged foods. I grew up with my mom baking everything from scratch but I unfortunately didn't get the baking gene ;-) So I am a cake in the box kind of girl. And when I do bake I go with Betty Crocker. They have the best reputation for being truly nut free.

That's funny Pen and I agree with you. I happen to love baking and so does my family. My family and I will get together over the weekend for dinners and we will all bake together which is so fun. I always feel at peace when I know exactly what is going into baked goods so baking myself is the best way for me to ensure that. But I have heard a lot of good things about Cherrybrook cake mixes (https://hudsonriverfoods.com/collections/cherrybrook-kitchen) because my friend only uses them when baking for her kids. I've tried their cakes and they are yummy.
