Anyone been to Nags Head, Duck or the OuterBanks of NC? We will be heading there this summer (just booked a house in Duck for July '06) and curious to get an insiders view on safe places to eat, attractions etc.

We went to Duck this past summer for our vacation, we LOVED it! It is nice and relaxing, not commercialized like some other beaches. I can't be of any help on suggesting where to eat though because we just rented a house and ate there each night. We did order pizza one night and were sure to ask about peanut products. There are some cute little shops, etc in Duck but for "other attractions" such as the Kittyhawk museum, mini golf... we went further down the outer banks to kittyhawk, nags head... I hope you all have a wonderful time and sorry I can't help you more with places to eat! Take care!

We stayed at Nags Head for a week this summer. Loved it! We bought food from the grocery store to keep in our rental house for breakfast and lunch, then went out to dinner. There was an Outback right across the street from us, as well as a Ruby Tuesday, so we ate at both those places. THere was a pizza Hut a couple of miles away, and we went there. We also ate at Outer Banks Steakhouse one night, it was about a 1/4 mile down the street from us. I'm pretty sure we ate one other place, but I don't remember where. For recreation, there's the beach. I expected the kids to get bored with the beach every day, but they really loved it. We did do a few other things. We went bowling one day, and played mini golf another. There are lots of minigolf courses, and the bowling alley was (I think)in Kill Devil Hills. We brought boogie boards and kites for the beach, and brought some toys and board games for inside as well, but didn't use them as much as I thought we would. It's a beautiful area, and I'm sure you'll have a great time.

We also are renting a house, and most likely will be eating there for most of the meals but like to venture out at least 2 for dinner or order in.

We love the NC beaches. This will be our 3rd year at the beaches, but the first time this far up North. We are really looking forward to this summer.

We go to Duck every September & love it. We usually stick close to the house since the beach & pool tires the kids out so much. But we always make a point to go down the the NC Aquarium in Manteo (just west over the bridge from Nags Head). Great little aquarium! We also love Tortuga's Lie on the beach road in Nags Head & our DS ate there no problem. Enjoy! Maura

Hi - We are heading back to Hatteras Island this year for our 2nd year. We stay in Rodanthe. We went to the aquarium last year & I think they are opening a new one this year! We ate most of our meals in last year, but my DH & I went to the Pelican Isle (I think that's what is was called??) in Nags Head and it was great!! DD is only 13 months old with multiple food allergies, so I'll have to bring all her food if we go out to dinner. I can't wait for July!
