Just wondering if anyone know of this doctor? I have certainly seen his name on several materials on allergies. I assume he's quite well known?

I have heard that he is very good....but no bedside manner. Have heard negative comments about how he sends people away without answering questions. My dd was diagnosed by Dr.Lee (I think) in the same office. The waiting room is like 5x5 and crammed with people.
He has done a lot of research and seems to be well respected in his field.
Good luck
Thank you Ange. We will be seeing him in a couple of weeks. I've got tonnes of questions so I wonder if he'll send us away prematurely. Hope not!
Are you in Ottawa? I know there's an Antony Ham Pong here. Also in the office is Dr Yee, both pediatric allergists.
DD is a patient of Dr. Yee, who says he will continue to see her, as she is now 19. Dr. Ham Pong is well thought of, and I thought a lot of Dr. Yee when DD was diagnosed TNA at 8 yrs.
She just recently started to react to peanuts, and the Dr. told her not to worry too much about 'may contains' or avoiding nuts she was negative to.
Earlier this week she reacted to macadamia nuts, we're pretty sure. I'm thinking total avoidance might be good, so I'm very interested in what the Dr. says when she sees him in 2 weeks!
Yes - the waiting room is small! Busy office and not much room to wait. I've seen parents take their little ones for a walk in the hallway while waiting for their 'tests' to react.

My kids all used to see Dr. Hampong, however for reasons listed above, we no longer see him. He was a good doctor but was sorely lacking in his ability to treat the whole patient. Not to mention answer (any) of my many questions. That said, we still visit the same office but see a great female doctor named Dr. Pauline Kerr. It was like night and day. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
Take care,
Katiee

DD saw Dr. Yee yesterday. Positive to the macadamia nuts, and this time his advice is to avoid all nuts. Given the new peanut/cashew diagnosis 3 months ago, to add to her other nut allergies, I was expecting this advice LAST time - at least DD got it from him now. (Mom's advice doesn't really count, right?) Not overly impressed anymore, but not likely to have to return for a while.
Hi
Dr. HamPong has been our allergist since we moved to Ottawa. When we first got here, I couldn't get a family doctor, yet not a pediatrician. I got a referral to the CHEO respiratory clinic for my son, who has severe asthma and anaph. allergy to egg. We saw Dr. HamPong and I told him I had not yet found a pediatrician in Ottawa. He called a colleague who was not accepting new patients but asked her to accept my son and daughter due to their food allergies and asthma. We have been with our pediatrician 6 years now and it has been excellent.
Dr. HamPong is very knowledgeable and has recently done some studies on the accuracy of skin prick tests vs. RAST. I agree that he is not the most personable fellow, but he supplied me with excellent literature, was thorough and is always available to my pediatrician if she has a question or concern.
hope this helps!
