mommabear- I did....eeewwwwww!!!.
seriously- who in their right mind would PURPOSELY allow a dog to lick their childs behind? She actually says her Dr. recommended this treatment! I think i would switch dr's.

Can't say my child's even had diaper rash that called for drastic treatement. I shudder at the intensity of diaper rash she might be talking about.
Honestly? Nope. No diaper rash. I'm absolutely obsessive about butts. I think it's the nurse in me. I was an every 2 hour diaper changer (while they are awake) and still am with my daughter now. Peachy smooth, pearlescent, kissable butts. No ****. Literally.
No advice, absolutely not, but I've always bathed my children daily, and always dunk the baby's bottom before bedtime, (despite a daily bath) and thoroughly allow it to air dry after gentle patting with a towel before bed. Despite those recommendations they give new mothers. (BAD MOMMY)
No creams, no powder (definitely no silica), and I mean, it......absolutely kissable bottoms, but no, never had to resort to canine slobber. Do you think she needs to evaluate why it ever reached that point? <<<>>>
It's just unthinkable for me, a nurse, a mother,......oh, you know, a woman to not do everything within my power to prevent another's sore bottom. In particular, my children's. oooOOOOOch.
Forbid.
If the pediatrician pulled back the diaper to check the bottom on the baby, and found diaper rash, I'd be mortified. It's just my hangup. And yeah, I know there are some things that might trigger it, but if it's due to long waits between changes and lack of a good regular rinse, shame shame shame.
Was I off, or did she say she did this with *all* of her children????
And hey, next thing ya know, PETA will be giving her a ring.
General disclaimer: I am not offering advice, absolutely not. Just getting ready to pucker up.

My kids would get diaper rashes only when sick, must have been the "full glass" thing because once we got the food allergy thing going, along w/ poor dd's lactose intolerance, no more problems. I was a frequent diaper changer too, work in a nursing home, force of habit. Kids got daily baths, as well as a bottom dunk after a mid-day poop, as a rule no creams, and NEVER powder (ds had asthma). We saw a lot of doctor's, not one recommended the dog treatment, positive I would not have followed that advice though even if I had heard it.
So now the question is, do we really want Rosie to back us all up as a community, when the world knows how she treats diaper rash? Could do more harm than good to have Rosie in our corner.
Well, I might have missed the boat on why, but 2 minutes in a poop sometimes gave my dd blsters. So sad. It could be awful. My first and all, but I thought it was fruit and fruit juice(now thinking corn syrup) and did my best. But before knowing food allergies, she had several bouts of blister bottom, and *not* from waiting for a change.
Regardless, I would not have resorted to a dog licking her hiney! Desitin in thick, gobby layers did the trick an a day or two! And then we just slathered the stuff on her, then ds whether they needed it or not! becca

absolutely. completely understand. every two hours, but if there was poop or the diaper seemed noticeably wet, chango. Even if it just went on. (I've been thru my share of changes where it just keeps comming!! ) I mean, even when my kids went on solids, I always checked right after feeding. come to think of it, I give my daughter a fresh diaper before her cereal. she eats better when I do.
hblmom- I have always been a huge fan of Rosie and thought after her peanut stmt- maybe she could become educated and be the public voice to give PA the attention it deserves.
But I understand what you are saying--She has made quite a few controversial stmts recently (the extreme christians same as extreme muslims, dogs licking behinds etc)
Maybe she is losing some of her credibility with these stmts ya know? Either way- It is a public voice. Many many watch the View and I think any amount spreading education as far as LTFA's go- would be welcomed by me.
just sent an e-mail. I checked the blog...seriously, guys, do you really think that Rosie O'Donnell herself is answering those comments? Probably more like a college intern or her butt licking dog. I highly doubt it is Rosie herself...at least not most of the time!
has she answered any more questions or comments related to the PA issue? i haven't heard.
Today she made a comment about her quotes being taken too much out of context? anyone else hear this? joy told her to let it go...wondered what she was referring to (it seems she's ticked a few people off lately) on her blog someone posted that although peanut alleries are serious, does anyone realize she is a comedian and it was bumped. otherwise.....no.
