Dairy-free AND peanut/nut-free chocolate?

I'm searching for a dark chocolate (preferably in Canada but can order from the US or UK) with no trace of milk or nuts for a friend's daughter with a severe dairy allergy.

The hunt is on to give this 6-year old chocolates this Christmas for the first time ever.

My friend already checked with Nestle regarding their Aero Dark and it does contain a small amount of dairy. Anyone know of any completely dairy-free lines?

Sorry, this is probably the wrong forum but I did a search and didn't find any definitive answers to this question. Thanks for any help.

Hi Carolyn,
No trace of dairy or nuts? Not easy. I have seached for dark chocolate for myself and Aero dark is one of the only ones I found (but it does have dairy). Cadbury makes Caramilk dark that is nut-free too, but not sure about dairy.
hmmm.. how about Hersheys dark chocolate kisses? I know they are available in the USA (I ate them this summer when I was in NYC) so they are nut-free... but I don't have an ingredient list for them. Hershey's dark chocolate kisses are one idea.
After Eight mints are enrobed in dark chocolate, so they are safe too.. but once again, I am not sure if there is dairy.
I'll have to trek down to a pharmacy and check out some ingredient lists this week.

Sorry, I get my chocolate from France, but it is "may contain traces of dairy" .. I can get hold of dairy-free but then it contains traces of peanuts/nuts....

darthcleo - I came upon your post about your French supplier during my initial search. The one where you describe buying in bulk from a bakery supplier. Hmmm... I hope it's not a case of either/or - surely someone makes both, even a small firm like Vermont Nut-free perhaps? Hopefully this girl outgrows her milk allergy like many kids (including Cayley) do.
Thanks Erik, for offering to search The Big Smoke! I was wondering about Dove Dark - it probably has a peanut warning on it, does it? Thanks again.

The chocolate I get from the French bakery is with traces of dairy. The same chocolate from Belgium is traces of peanuts. So here, yes, it's a case of either/or....

Cayley's Mom
There is a thread, I believe on the living with allergies board. It is about a chocolate shop in Cinncinati, Ohio that makes dairy free & nut free chocolate. They ask specifically what your child (or the person you are buying it for) is allergic to, then when your order is shipped-they also send you an exact ingredient list!
In case you cannot find the thread-you can go to The Food Network, look under "Food Finds" & it was in last Thursday nights episode! Good luck!

If there's anyone who is in the USA (ie: Becca, e-mom, etc) who shops at CVS, maybe they can check out the ingredient label for the dark chocolate Hershey's kisses to see if there is any dairy.. I don't know if they sell dark chocolate kisses in Canada.
But I'll search for dark chocolate anyway..

They do have peanuts products and nuts products, so unless they have dedicated lines or factories, that's still no good.

Erik,
I will check it out tomorrow. Just wrote myself a note and will tape it to my keys.
Ok, I couldn't help myself--I decided to go check tonight. Unfortunately, the Dark Chocolate Hershey's Kisses lists the ingredient of Milk Fat.
Wished I could have provided some good news
