Has anyone else heard that the cones shouldn't be eaten by PA people? I went to McDonald's last night to get ice cream cones for the first time since we've REALLY been watching out for peanut issues. I happened to get the manager on duty to wait on me. I asked about the cones for people allergic to peanuts and said I'd seen on their website that they should be fine, but I wondered about the peanuts in the packets coming in contact. He said the ice cream would be fine, but the cones themselves have some kind of a may-contain or processed-in warning on them. He looked at the paper wrapper around one, and he said it didn't say it on there, but he knows he's seen it on the box. So he said he could put the ice cream in a plastic cup and charge us the cone price, which is what we did. I looked at McDonald's website today, and there's no indication to avoid the cones if you're allergic to peanuts, but there is about the walnut salad and the cookies, which must be only may-contains. Has anyone else heard this? Could the manager just be mistaken about which allergy warning they have? I suppose I'll try to e-mail McDonald's.

DS eats these as a special snack--as recently as yesterday. We've not had a problem, and I've not heard of this concern before.

When I read the label of the box of the cones and IC at McD's - they both looked safe to me - my son eats them on occasion. I hope the cones are safe.... out here in AZ - a cold IC cone is a great treat.
