we'll be taking a trip this weekend to visit the national zoo in DC and the national aquarium in Baltimore, and we'll be staying in Columbia, MD. does anyone know of some good PA/TNA/shellfish allergy friendly restaurants?

Hi. Glad you're coming to visit MD. Bad news though. We have a membership to the Baltimore Aquarium - majority of food is not peanut safe. They do offer Pizza Hut personal pizzas, chips and sodas. We always bring our own food. There a number of restaurants at the Inner Harbor. We visited Capital City Brewery several years ago and found them peanut safe. I believe Subway is also located at the Inner Harbor. Try looking online for Baltimore City restaurants. The Hard Rock Cafe is close but not safe. The ESPN Zone Restaurant is also there but I am unaware of it's food.
The Zoo in DC is very large and we've been several times of the years. I don't believe they are peanut safe. I think we did get hot dogs last time because they were steamed. Definately no french fries.
HAve a great trip. I don't frequent the Columbia area enough to comment on peanut safe restaurants.

thanks for your suggestions! i had already planned to bring food for lunches and snacks--usually seems the safest thing to do. it's too bad that such popular attractions do not pay more attention to their food choices, especially since so many visitors are children and school groups.
