ALLERGY ALERT - UNDECLARED PEANUT PROTEIN IN ZOGLO'S
YAEL'S CHOICE PASTRIES CINNAMON & HAZELNUT LOAF
OTTAWA, May 27, 2005 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)
and Foodfest International 2000 Inc. are warning people with allergies to
peanut protein not to consume Zoglo's Yael's Choice Pastries Cinnamon &
Hazelnut Loaf. The affected product may contain peanut protein which is
not declared on the label. This alert is of concern to those individuals who
have allergies to peanut protein.
The affected product, Zoglo's Yael's Choice Pastries Cinnamon & Hazelnut
Loaf, a product of Israel, is sold in a 500 g package bearing UPC 0 71217
40202 4.
The importer is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the
marketplace. The affected product has been distributed in Ontario.
Consumption of this product may cause a serious or life-threatening
reaction in persons with allergies to peanut protein. There has been one
reported illness associated with the consumption of this product.
The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
