We changed schools this year to a private christian school and things are definately looking up.

I did not realize actually that they were only a peanut free school, that is until the 1st day of school when they became a totally nut free school because of my ds.

I do not know how I missed that, I guess I assumed because when we had been there in the spring they had signs everywhere and told me they had many allergic kids and seemed very allergy aware.

They said "we do allow other nuts in the school" ACCK...but without another word from me other than "My ds is very allergic to other nuts as well"

They changed the policy and a wonderfully written memo came home to all students that they are now a nut free school. There will be a formal letter mailed to everyone in the near future, and they are expecting co-operation.

They were very through with me and even though they recently had epi training they are having another soon.

I really can't say I've ever felt this comfortable anywhere before. I thought ds could eat some of the cafeteria food that I had said was safe. They said "I don't think he should eat from there because there are some may contains and we don't want to risk it."

I just couldn't imagine a school ever being more cautious than I was.

I am happy.

Wow! I'm so happy for your family! It's great to feel like people actually care about your child's welfare
