Now this is really interesting...
I had PH pizza a few months ago...my favorite pizza and the next morning I woke up with welts on my legs. I immediately blamed the pizza but family insisted it was stress from the job. So, I blew it off.
I had the pizza from PH again last week (3 pieces) one night and two more pieces the next day...I did not have a reaction of any sort! Not one itty bitty reaction...
And now this come up??!!
Thanks for posting this! I don't check everytime, and even when I do, the restaurant's allergen info is usually out of date!! It's a good reminder to check everytime. Sigh. I hate not being able to let my guard down at all.
The peanut and the tree nut have an * beside them and if you look on the top left side it just says that individual places could have peanuts and to call store manager and talk to them. Aren't they owned by the same company as Taco Bell? They have the same exact warning on their website too. We will still be ordering Pizza Hut! It is CYA!
Just wondering -- what happened to the dessert pizzas that some eat-in Pizza Huts used to have? I seem to recall walnuts &/or pecans. All pizzas were baked in same oven & cut with same pizza cutters, so cross contamination was true concern.
We had crossed off PHut long ago in favor for Papa John's.

Pizza Huts in Canada do not use peanut products and have no peanut warnings. Pizza Hut in Canada is still safe for PA individuals.
Here is the PIzza Hut Canada allergen chart:

What you're referring to is a caution that some PH restaurants may have peanuts. The symbol they use in the ingredient listing indicates it's "prepared on common equipment; may come into contact with allergen-containing products."
I'm going to try to paste:
posted 12/14/2006 Allergens
Sensitivities
(check mark) Contains allergen
(cross mark) Contains ingredient that may cause sensitivity
(asterisk) Peanuts and tree nuts may be used in some Pizza Hut restaurants. Please check with the store manager. They may also be used in common manufacturing plants.
(hollow circle) Soybean oil is not indicated as an allergen. According to the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network, studies show that most soy-allergic individuals may safely eat most types of soybean oil (foodallergy.org). Your doctor can advise you on whether you need to avoid soybean oil.
(bullet) Prepared in common equipment; may be in contact with allergen-containing products***
***For peanut, this bullet symbol (shared lines) is used in the allergen table for the red sauce, white sauce, Cavatini, salad dressing, and crushed red peppers.
That to me is quite different--two different peanut concerns: a possible one depending on the restaurant, and a made on shared lines warning. Two warnings.
Again, could be CYA, BUT I've had reactions based on the same warnings with shellfish.
It depends on your comfort zone, of course. If you normally give your child food on shared lines, then you'd probably be comfortable here.

A couple years ago Pizza Hut had a table like that listing possible peanuts in their sauce. I posted about it, but the table was replaced very shortly after I posted and peanuts were no longer listed.
I called PH in mid-December (just as a check on the latest) and got such a weird answer from customer service about peanuts that I decided to wait a couple weeks and call back, but haven't gotten around to it yet. The rep said there could be cross contamination w/ peanuts in the factory where the ingredients are made. I pressed to ask which ingredients might be contaminated w/ peanuts and how (ie what is Pizza Hut making w/ peanuts in a factory) and she said that the factory they buy their ingredients from may process other things. She gave flour as the example. I continued to press and said where do you get your flour that it might be contaminated w/ peanuts, then she retracted that and said other ingredients. In other words, her story wasn't very cohesive. Anyway, with PH being such a large company and needing to maintain uniformity, I wouldn't think they would outsource to some factory making a million other things, but what do I know.
If this is CYA labeling, wouldn't they put the warnings all across the table instead of just a few selected items?
Either way, my confidence in PH has reached a new low. We won't be eating there again.

I called Pizza Hut corp and the nutritionist is calling me back. I really don't think anything has changed just the labeling. I guess I will find out!
