Can you tell if something is cooked in peanut oil? Can you smell the peanut oil? Can you taste the peanut oil? Does it put a peanut taste onto the food?

For example, I know that someone said that sometimes french fries are cooked in peanut oil. Can you taste a difference in the french fry if it is cooked in peanut oil vs. vegetable oil or any other oil?

Any help would be appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

I can't tell a difference in P vs other oils. We have a local potato chip here in Ohio called Mikesell's. They are cooked in peanut oil. As I recall (I haven't had them since my son's diagnosis) they are better than most national brands, but there is no peanut taste. We also have a sub place, Penn Station, that fries in peanut oil. I tasted them a few months ago and there is no real difference with them. IMO they aren't as good as McDonalds.

I can't tell a difference in taste. I can tell a difference in smell sometimes, but I think this is due to Peanut Oil lasting longer than other oils (which is why most "small town" places around me use it) so sometimes I find it smells "old".

Be safe and ask! As I mentioned on this site before, my daugter has reacted to touching residue from peanut oil fried food.
