pHas anyone had their child denied access to a day camp because of their PA? I just got off the phone with a camp director who said that she couldn't required (or allow) training of her counselors for the epi pen therefore my son cannot attend...the number of negatives for my son is increasing. Anyone have any answers? By the way, my son has a 504 for school and this place is a community college. At the bottom of their application is the federal claim that they do not discriminate due to ..../p

Well, I can't exactly answer your initial question, but I would like to talk about camp.
Most of the day camps here serve hot lunch and offer PB&J as an alternative for those who do not like the lunch that day. My PA 4 yr old has not attended camp yet for this reason. This summer he will be at day camp where he has been going for preschool and I will pick him up before lunch time. There is just way too much peanut product for my comfort level!
I feel that you need to go above the camp director to get to the bottom of this. Your child should not be denied because they do not want to take responsibility...They have an obligation to all the children that attend their camp to keep them all safe!!
How can they say they do not discriminate when this is exactly that?!?!?
I wish I could be more help to you. Don't give up, maybe this is just not the right place to send your child and you may find another place that you are more comfortable with. Good luck and let us know the outcome.
