Just passing on some info. I called Dole today at 1-800-232-8888 and spoke with Inga. She stated that all their canned fruit is safe, no peanut or nut ingredients at all and no chance of cross contamination. She then said that their mixed fruit did have an almond flavoring in it. I said "well, Inga, that may then be a nut ingredient, wouldn't it?" She laughed and said "well, I guess so but let me check because maybe it is just an almond flavoring that isn't really almond" She came back and said she checked with their research dept, or something like that, and said it is actually cherry flavoring but that is gives off an almondy taste, so there is no actual nut flavoring in it. She did say however, that their dates are not safe because they are run on a line with walnuts and almonds, but that the package does have a may contain warning on it.
I didn't care about the dates anyway, I am just happy to find some more canned fruit to use!!

Hi KCMom...
Did she by chance mention the peaches in their peach jello mix that come in the cups? I have been dying to give my ds one, but was worried..would you feel it was safe?

Hello! I did not ask about the jello cups, but I think I would feel safe with them because she said they do label for cross-contamination, as is proven with their dates. I think I would be comfortable giving the fruit and jello bowls.

My son is TN and PN allergic and has eaten the dole fruit-n-gel cups with no problems. Specifically, the mandarin oranges in orange gelatin and the peaches in strawberry gelatin.

We have used the Dole Fruit Bowls tropical fruit bowls (no added sugar- they are the only type/brand of fruit cup this is true for) for years without any problems at all.
DD has probably eaten 25 lbs of the stuff... this may be a conservative estimate, come to think of it. (And the little cups are awesome for crafts/art stuff later, too.)

I just got a call from Dole in response to my email and I was told that the canned fruits and juices were safe. I also asked about the fruit bowls and fruit-n-gel bowls and she said they were safe also. She said to stay away from the raisins, dates, and prunes.

I'm sorry I don't remember the exact reasoning behind her saying to stay away from the raisins. I think it had to do with the lines they are processed on. I'm sorry. I was jotting everything she said so quickly.

tidina, my son is PA only although we also avoid TN. Not sesame though.
At any rate, I have never had a problem with any of the Dole products. The large family servings. The individual fruit cups. And the individual fruit cups in jell-o.
However, as usual, I have not called.
Best wishes!

DD has also eats the Dole fruit cups. Never had an issue, like csc, I havenot called. She likes the peach cups and the mandarin orange cups. Does not like the mixed fruit or pears- just a taste thing, not allergy thing.
