- Canada specific -
This year, the Cadbury Easter Creme Eggs (39 gram size - manufactured in England and exported to Canada) do not have any peanut allergy warning on the wrapping's ingredient list. However, some of these eggs have been packaged in a "3-pack" cardboard box and this box has an incorrect 'may contain peanut' allergy warning on it (the eggs inside do not have warning on the ingredient label, only on the outside box).
So even though the 3-pack container has a 'may contain peanuts' allergy alert on it, the creme eggs inside are actually safe.
I contacted Cadbury to inform them of this error. Here is their response:

RE: Cadbury question [Case: 1-53245129]
Dear Mr. [xxxxxxxx],
Thank you for contacting us about the packaging information on the Cadbury Cr
Thanks Erik, you have made my daughter's day!
She has eaten these before, many times, and we have read labels. I read a 3-pack recently, which says it isn't safe. When I found her in posession of an empty wrapper, I was concerned. She just figured it was one more thing she couldn't (or shouldn't) have. I hadn't looked at the individual ones, although they are awfully hard to read!
I was sooooo disapointed also when I saw the label a few weeks ago. I decided to call the company to complain about the fact that I can't eat my favorite chocolate anymore! The rep initially sounded like she thought I was crazy, and then she put me on hold and came back to tell me it was a mistake! It was the best news!
so the cadbury cream eggs are safe? dont they make carmel eggs too, are they safe? i havent had one in years

Hi Tidina,
I checked at the pharmacy today. The 39 gram Cadbury Easter Creme eggs are safe.
However, the Caramilk, Maple, etc creme eggs all have allergy warnings.
So the only safe ones I've seen so far here in Toronto Canada are the regular Cadbury 39 gram Easter Creme eggs (which are made in England)
remember...Erik's post is Canada specific. You'd have to check to see who actually makes the Cadbury Creme Eggs for the US...sometimes Hershey manufactures Cadbury in the US.
That being said...I haven't seen any peanut or tree nut warnings on the regular Cadbury Creme Eggs here in Tucson, I even check the larger display box they come in. The caramel ones had a warning on them though, but I'm not sure "which" warning, just that I recall reading it, going "darnit!!!!!", and putting it back.

I've been eating these for years, and years, and they are my favorite. Never bothered me. I think regardless what the label says, I wouldn't stop eating them. They've shown to not cause any reactions for me, so why give up a favorite like that because of a label?
Tom, when you notice the label changes you should call the manufacturer. Sometimes something was made in a peanut safe environment, but then moves into a different facility.

Hi Adrienne,
Yes, I'm not sure if the Cadbury Easter Creme eggs in the USA are the same ones we have (made by Cadbury in England and exported to Canada), or if Hershey USA makes them in the USA.
Although from what I've heard in past years, they have been safe in the USA.
