Just developed my allergy about 3 months ago, PN/TN. I haven't started eating at fast food places, but I have become comfortable with the pizza from Gino's East (important, only the pizza, the city locations have a walnut pesto which is made at a different time of the day in a different place).
I've also become comfortable with a number of nicer steak/seafood restaurants downtown (I live in the Loop) including Shaw's Crab House, Bistro 110, Capital Grille, Joe's Stone Crab, and Catch 35 (tons of peanut oil there, so may be outside your comfort zone). Keep away from Reva in Navy Pier, while they say they are safe, they make you feel like a burden.
One of these days I will try McDonald's and Wendy's like people suggest...just not mentally ready yet.
