I think that almonds should be the least of your worries! I went to Brueggers last week and ordered a plain sliced bagel for my daughter. While I waited, I noticed that the person in front of us ordered peanut butter on a bagel for their kid. When I purchased my bagel I asked the manager about crosscontamination and she immediately took our plain bagel away from us. She said that if you order a sliced bagel of any kind, that they re-use the same knives to slice ALL the bagels no matter what you have on the bagel (peanut butter, tuna fish, plain, etc.). She said the only safe bagel was an unsliced bagel with nothing on it, and even then, she didn't seem completely comfortable about the safety. Well...another place bites the dust for us!!!
