Book recommendation?

Can you recommend a book for the mom of a newly diagnosed 2 year old, as well as a book to read to the child?

The Peanut Allergy Handbook Sheila Rusnell-Newton

is a good one for the Mom.

As for the child, we like Alexander? (I think) the Allergic Elephant. I previewed the other books and they were more scary -- not appropriate for a preschooler, IMO. We didn't get them, but maybe I'll feel different later.

I get more info here than anywhere.

Good luck! Patty

I recommend The Peanut Allergy Answer Book by Dr. Michael Young and Caring for Your Child with Severe Food Allergies: Emotional Support and Practical Advice from a Parent Who's Been There by Lisa Cipriano Collins.

My kids enjoy the Alexander books mentioned above as well.

I recommend "The Parent's Guide to Food Allergies" by Marianne S. Barber and "The Complete Peanut Allergy Handbook" by Scott Sicherer. Both very thorough on how to handle things.

The Alexander the Allergic Elephant books are good for kids. We have the basic one and the birthday party one, both given to my DD by the allergist at her 1st visit. At that point, even I learned things from them!
