Toured the plant and was impressed. PA son eats a lot of their flavors. Never had a reaction.
He just finished off the mint chocolate chip -- YUM!
I have no reason to trust Blue Bell other than I've eaten it all my life without incident...

Thanks for sharing your experiences. We have also trusted them and have eaten the homemade vanilla, but the response I got from the rep makes me a little scared to continue with it. Anyway, I'm glad that I haven't heard about anyone reacting to the ice cream.
We've gotten conflicting information on this board. The one thing we haven't gotten is a reaction--I do think we should make a pact to post here and in reactions if we do have a reaction from Blue Bell. We do trust Homemade Vanilla, and DS finished off the Peppermint a few days ago. I think we've also bought homemade vanilla with peach. That's it.
But please post about a reaction if you have one.
Thanks McCobbre, so far we haven't had a reaction to Blue Bell. I hate that we get such conflicting info!
I agree, please post if you have experienced a reaction.
I just called their 800-888-0340 number and spoke to them about the individual vanilla ice cream cups. The lady on the phone said that the 3oz cups are run on a seperate line so therefore no chance of cross contamination.
It would be great if someone else could call and ask them also....
Did you happen to ask about the mini cups of chocolate? I've seen the mini cups of vanilla packed with chocolate, so I was wondering.

No, I've never seen those...they sound yummy ! I only asked about the vanilla.
Schnoob--did you happen to ask about the Homemade Vanilla in the regular big tubs, too?
Hi - In another thread under restaurants, I brought up the topic of eating out. The Outback was one of the restaurants that we frequent and have been comfortable with but I was questioning the bread and ice cream. My PA DS has eaten the ice cream there several times, and I've always asked the mgr. about the label. Anyway, I recently took it further and contacted The OutBack Corporate office. Their ice cream is Blue Bell HomeMade Vanilla... and this was their response.
G'day,
Thank you for your e-mail!
The Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream does not contain "treenuts/peanuts".
I had also asked about their bread, so the rest of the letter was regarding that topic. Anyway, that is coming from The Outback, not directly from Blue Bell, so not sure. Just thought I'd throw it out there, because if we do feel comfortable with Blue Bell's answer, then you'll know of one restaurant where you can have it. But by the sounds of this thread, there seems to be a little confusion on the issue. Anxious to hear more.
